Amores de mercado is a popular Chilean telenovela that premiered on Canal 13 on September 8, 2001. The show consists of 142 episodes and ran until April 19, 2002. The series was adapted from the 2000 Colombian telenovela Juan Joyita nunca volverá by Fernando Gaitán.
The story follows three women, Javiera (Alejandra Herrera), Francisca (Paola Volpato), and Isabel (Maricarmen Arrigorriaga), who are all struggling in their personal lives. They meet in a market in Santiago, Chile and form a strong bond of friendship. The show also features a love story between Javiera and a successful businessman, Diego (Luciano Cruz-Coke).
The show was a huge success in Chile, and it was also broadcast in several other countries in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. The series was praised for its strong female characters and for addressing such themes as class differences, friendship, and love. The series won multiple awards, including the Chilean Altazor Award for Best Telenovela in 2001.
